In an yet another ruling that may ultimately help a journalist get
justice, the Appellate Court of Patan on July 3, 2007 asked the
District Court of Kathmandu to accept and look into a
torture-compensation case filed by a journalist four and half years ago.

The District Court of Panchthar has ruled that the government pay a sum
of Rs 35,000 to a journalist in compensation for the extrajudicial
custody and torture meted out during the State of Emergency two and
half years ago.
