Freedom Forum is going to organize the national convension on RTI in Nepal form 28 till March 2011 in Kathmandu to contribute to creating massive wave for the effective implementation of RTI by discussing the thematic areas that RTI can influence much with stakeholders. The major objective of the convention is to make environment for effective implimentation and use of Right to Informarion by fostering RTI supportive legislature framework and execution of those framework. The convention will be conducted with the slogan -''Enabling environment for the effective practices of right to information in Nepal'' .
The convention will be organized for two days with a plan of presenting and discussing 10 papers on RTI associating it with other sectors. The papers are expected to assess and highlight the role of government, NIC, civil society organizations, political parties, including other stakeholders so that the convention will present a trajectory of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of RTI development in Nepal. International experts from India and other countries of the South Asia region will be invited to facilitate an environment of sharing RTI experience in the region.
The participants for the convension will be selected form different sectors including government officials and civil society members. We anticipate that you all contribute form your side so as to make the convension successful. The main objective of the convention is to contribute promoting an enabling environment for the improved access to information in Nepal by fostering RTI supportive legislature framework and effective implementation. The immediate objectives are:
• To Increase in key stakeholders' awareness about key freedom of information issues, including improved understanding of the RTI as a tool for public accountability, empowerment and guarantee of other fundamental rights.
• Enhance greater coordination and consensus among stakeholders, including civil society organizations, National Information Commission and enforcing mechanism to facilitate better implementation of RTI.

There will be about 135 participants in the convention. 100 participants will be from kathmandu representing different sectors and 25 will be form out of Kathmandu. Ten will be RTI experts form India, Pakisthan, Bangladesh and other south Asian Country. Name List of participants is yet to be conformed. Please, continue visiting us. |
